Dragondoor.com
Pavel Tsatsouraline's super fitness and martial arts website. His "Relax into Stretch" tape is an excellent approach to safe and effective stretching. The "Kettlebell Challenge" is for those who are looking for a hard-core exercise regimen. I have been using his techniques in my own work-outs. He is one of the very best instructors that I have come across.

Natural Hormone Replacement
Dr. John Lee has been using natural progesterone cream to treat perimenopausal and post-menopausal women since the 1970's. He has written books on the subject and conducts seminars around the world. Dr. Lee takes a dim view of artificical hormone replacement and other drugs that are commonly prescribed for older women. He backs up his opinions with solid scientific references. This website is a must for all women and the men who love them.

Look Up Your Medicines
Look up any drugs that you you have been prescribed on this patient-friendly version of the Physicians' Desk Reference. It will detail the dangers, precautions, and possible side-effects of the drug.

USDA Food Composition List
This website was a real find! The USDA lists the amount of individual nutrients in a list of foods that runs 29 pages (small print). It is perfect for any number of diets. Say you are on the Atkins diet or Natural Hormonal Enhancement Eating Plan. Click "Reports by Single Nutrients". Then, click on "carbohydrates". Print out your list. Click on "fiber". Print out that list. Look up the same food on both lists, subtract grams of fiber from grams of carbohydrate and you will have the exact amount of active carbohydrate in that particular food. If you are on Weight Watchers you can do the same thing with calories, fiber and fat. Use it. Your taxes are paying for it.

La Leche League
The La Leche League is a worldwide organization dedicated to promote, and inform people about the benefits of breastfeeding. My wife has been a La Leche League leader for many years. I have seen firsthand how important it is for mothers to have the support of these dedicated, well-informed volunteers. There is a group in both Roxborough and Mt. Airy.

Exercise For Seniors
This is a site that links to many sites concerned with exercise for those who are too old NOT to exercise.

Gray Iron
This is a wonderful website for those of us over 50. The site is a labor of love (non-commercial) of Logan Franklin, age 70+. In it he lays down a sensible, comprehensive health program for older beginners. His photos of himself are inspiring. His website is a wealth of health and fitness information for the older set. Give a look!

"Cold" Laser Therapy
The website of the Theralase company for information on their amazing new therapy. Ours is the only office in the Delaware Valley that uses this very advanced therapeutic device.

Charles Atlas
The value of this website goes way beyond the nostalgia that it provokes in us "Baby Boomers". Charles Atlas'"Dynamic Tension" exercises are just what the doctor ordered for those of us whose joint cartilage "just ain't what it used to be". I have downloaded the 12 Lesson program and find the exercises to be effective, yet easy on the joints. Check it out!

Krav Maga
Krav Maga is a self-defense system that is taught to the Israeli defense forces. The Navy SEALS, CIA, Army Rangers, as well as the Marines also incorporate it into their training. It is supremely effective and easy to learn. The conditioning aspect of it is also superb. I have studied it for 6 years, now. Going to class is one of the high points of my week. It is fun, challenging, and a real confidence builder. I study Krav at Premier Martial Arts, near Butler and Ridge Pike in Conshohocken. They have a class two nights a week. The first week is FREE! Check it out.

Goal Setting Software
Yogi Berra once said: "If you don't know where you're goin', that's where you're gonna end up!" I've had some people tell me that they don't want to set goals because they don't want to "set themselves up for failure". In order words, if you never attempt anything, you'll never fail. So instead of failing at a specific goal. fail at Life! No thanks. This is absolutely, the simplest, most straight-forward and effective way I have found to organize myself toward achievement. Unlike Life, it comes with a money back guarantee.

Fitness Tests
This is a good start to your decision to become more physically fit. This site gives you specific tests for various measurements of fitness such as flexibility, upper body strength, etc. It describes the test and provides you with a chart to measure yourself against others of your age and sex. So, you can see where you are now and track your improvement as well.

Personal Change For Better Living
Of all the pearls of wisdom that my son ignores, the idea that the key to success and happiness is to control one's own mind is perhaps the most important. Changeforgood.com offers various tools to help you to achieve that difficult goal. Check it out.
